World Groove Orchestra
Leicester Belgrave Mela proudly presented World Groove Orchestra, led by Artistic Director Durgesh Parmar. The world music band blends subtle Indian melodies, classic bollywood sounds and cool Jazz rhythms to create a heavenly musical experience. The instruments utilised included tablas, saxophone, keyboard, flute, wind syn, drums and the harmonium.
The show provided an opportunity for music lovers from various cultural backgrounds to experience a new musical sensation that combined traditional South Asian and more modern, western instruments. Approximately 120 people attended the evening and after talking to members of the audience, it seemed that they were all united in appreciating this new blend of music.
World Groove Orchestra is made up of professional musicians who together have a combined understanding of a variety of music genres. The Orchestra on the evening was made up of Durgesh Parmar, Artist Director; Tony Lobby saxophone and flute; Rocky Zain on keyboards; Hinesh Parmar a versatile drummer and Ustad Ali Hafis traditional Indian vocalist who boasts eight generations of musicians.
