                                                         Celebrating Diversity

Leicester Belgrave Mela strives to achieve and retain its primary goal of bringing traditional and contemporary South Asian Arts to all. Our programmes of activities have been innovative, diverse and challenging, attracting multicultural audiences in Leicester and beyond.  Our organisation has made a commitment to embracing projects that promote education, lifelong learning, disability awareness, social inclusion and multiculturalism regardless of age, race, cultural backgrounds and disabilities. Various mediums including traditional South Asian Art forms, educational outreach programmes, dance, music and the more contemporary art forms have been used to fulfil this goal.

The annual event gives the public the opportunity to experience internationally renowned artists, access to participatory arts workshops, and health information for free. But, more importantly, the Mela is a platform for Leicester to showcase its diverse talent.

Leicester City Council, Arts Council England and our multi agency team have been fantastic in their continued support of the Festival and our year round South Asian Arts programme. We would also like to thank our media partner - VIEWASIA who broadcast the event on Sony Television to make sure the Leicester Belgrave Mela continues to be one of the leading outdoor South Asian Festivals in the country.
